The existing system in U-Freight have an efficient LAN infrastructure but has a weak VLAN Implementation,
has no IGRP implementation and no ACL Implementation at all. They just newly upgrade their systems. And now they have a powerful
system because the workstations are directly connected to switch. Imagine, how fast the connection what they had in present.
Even though they have a fast connection but they have a weakness in the said system. The user can access through one workstation
to the other workstation even though they have to pass by some password.
But in U-Freight although
they have security in each network but some person can access or can hack the network. We can’t avoid that these people
will hack and may destroy some important files in the company.
So we suggest they have to develop
the VLAN that we proposed in our Threaded Case Study. Through this, files are kept safely and no one can access except for
the person who have the right to access it.
VLAN is important in LAN Structure. There are
many benefits that can get rather that to the Traditional LAN. We know that VLAN are implemented by grouping the network users
logically instead of physically on a Local Area Network (LAN) and assigning each port of a switch to VLAN. Because of this,
the user can’t access directly to the other segment unless they are permit to access it.
In ACL, the traffic filtering capabilities can be utilized with Access Control Lists (ACLs). Access list configuration is
used to control access to a network. ACL’s can prevent certain upper-layer protocols such as FTP, SMTP so on.
So we suggest to apply them ACL. They have to deny the WOS Network to the AFSA Network because in AFSA it is the heart of
the company’s transactions.And to ensure also that no one can access to the AFSA Network except for those people who
are allow to access it. But to ensure also that the AFSA Network can access to the WOS Network because there are some transactions
that is dependent, like the Accounting they have to access to the Billing Sections but the Billing can not access to the Accounting.
While accessing the internet, we suggest that their should have their own fast internet connections
like using DSL because their transactions greatly depend in more efficient connections.
